چکیده
The Stylasteridae, commonly known as lace corals, is a family of colonial calcifying hydrozoans mostly inhabiting deep waters. Stylasterids show cosmopolitan distribution but, in some areas, they are characterized by low species diversity, such the Red Sea, where only shallow-water has been reported so far. With this work, we provide first evidence deep-sea stylasterid NEOM region northern Saudi Arabian at depths ranging between 166 and 492 m. Morphological examinations revealed that was previously unknown belonging to genus Stylaster. We, therefore, describe Stylaster tritoni sp. nov., representing record Sea. Lastly, phylogenetic position within Stylasteridae evaluated, revealing close relationship with Indo-Pacific Western Atlantic confirming polyphyletic nature

Leptohelia flexibilis gen. nov. et sp. nov., the first stylasterid with a combined calcified and non-calcified skeleton, is described from seamounts and the slope off the islands of New Caledonia, in the southwestern Pacific. The new species is distinguished from all other species of the family Stylasteridae by having a non-calcified organic axis, internal to the basal portion of the calcified ...
متن کاملConopora Adeta, New Species (hydrozoa: Stylasteridae) from Australia, the First Known Unattached Stylasterid
—A new species of Conopora is described from off Queensland, Australia, the first known unattached stylasterid. It always occurs in a symbiotic relationship with a polynoid polychaete, which determines the colony morphology. Conopora adeta is also the first deep-water stylasterid reported from off Australia (398 m) and the ninth record of a stylasterid from the Australian region. Of the approxi...

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
First Insights into the Viral Communities of the Deep-sea Anoxic Brines of the Red Sea
The deep-sea brines of the Red Sea include some of the most extreme and unique environments on Earth. They combine high salinities with increases in temperature, heavy metals, hydrostatic pressure, and anoxic conditions, creating unique settings for thriving populations of novel extremophiles. Despite a recent increase of studies focusing on these unusual biotopes, their viral communities remai...

Stylasterid corals comprise about 250 species, making them the second largest group of calcified cnidarians, only the Scleractinia having more species (i.e. 1500; Cairns, 1999; Cairns et al., 1999). They are distributed worldwide in both deep and shallow-water marine environments, but most species occur in water depths of 200-500m (Cairns, 1984, 1992). Among the tropical shallow-water species, ...
